Definition of Content Marketing
In language, Content Marketing consists of two words, Content and Marketing.
Content means content. However, it is more often translated into content, which means “information available through media or products electronic.”
Marketing means marketing or sales. So, linguistically, Content Marketing means content marketing, but more popular with the translation “Content Marketing.”
Content Marketing is one type of marketing strategy, especially promotion, online. This term is closely related to the terms online business, internet marketing, digital marketing, content strategy, content writing, blogs, websites, social media, and SEO.
Practical understanding, Content Marketing is the promotion of products or services online by presenting articles, images, audio, video, infographics, animations that are informative, interesting, with the aim of introducing, promoting, and bringing in buyers or clients indirectly (implicitly).
According to Google’s dictionary, Content Marketing is a type of marketing that involves creating and sharing online material (such as videos, blogs, and social media posts). That does not explicitly promote a brand but intended to stimulate interest in its products or services.
Joe Pulizzi and Newt Barrett in getting Content to Get Customers (McGraw Hill Publication, 2009) defines Content Marketing as a general term that covers all marketing formats that involve creating or sharing content to attract the current and potential consumer base.
Some people consider content marketing as “a new era of marketing” ( new age marketing ), but Content Marketing is only “new wine in old bottles” ( new wine in old bottle ).
What distinguishes Content Marketing from the old way of marketing (promotion) is content or material, which is in the form of online material such as videos, blogs, and social media posts.
According to the Content Marketing Institute, content marketing creates and distributes valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and get an audience with the ultimate goal of generating profits for a business.
From Wikipedia, Content marketing is a marketing strategy by planning, create, and distribute content that is for promotion and sale of products or services (services) or reach consumers or clients.

Differences in Content Marketing and Advertising
Content marketing is a more effective way for online businesses to market products or services compared to advertisements.
Because, Content Marketing is information that does not directly promote the product, but instead provides benefits while advertising explicitly and directly in the form of promotion.
Blue Adz explains, advertising directly contains promotions that are likely to be avoided by people. At the same time, content marketing makes people unaware that they are being “led” to become buyers or users of services.
“Traditional marketing makes you invade the customer space at the date and time you set – and you have no way to know for certain whether your message reaches them at the time they agree with it.”
“With content marketing, you create online content (blogs, web pages, social media posts, whitepapers, etc.) and let customers come to you.”
When potential customers search for something related to your business online using Google, Bing, or other popular search engines, your content can be placed on search engine results pages (SERP) for customers to click. ”
