Why Does Everybody Need to Have a Website?

There must be an assumption that enough with social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram alone we can already exist. Especially if only for selling online. Some social media can be used to gain rupiah coffers. But is this really so?

I want to tell one story first. I have a friend whose hobby is photographing. He became a reliable photographer and was contracted by one of the major media in Indonesia. From the corner of my eye, the shots are always amazing.

But the past two years, he chose to become a freelance photographer and touched the wider market. International market. So freelance is not an easy matter. This road is quiet and full of competition. Skill is not the only thing that counts. There is an image factor at stake.

He experienced difficulties, not because of the lack of quality. That image factor is what inhibits. Several times he opened an offer to an outside agency, but it did not always end well because he did not have a place to display a window of his work.

Maybe someone will say, Instagram can be used as a container. Right. But measuring the professionalism of a photographer is very naive when using a free container. Social media is important but building an image requires a little capital.

Some agencies he contacted asked for a personal website link. They want to see some examples of works that have been made. As well as anything interesting. So that the website should not only be a place to create, but also introduce our identity on the internet.

Examples like my photographer friend are only a small part to complete the question why everyone needs a website. For sellers of this service is not a joke. If the intention is to look for opportunities on the internet, then good branding starts with a good website.

The current habits of society began to shift. Little by little, many people are literate in digital literacy. No longer directly trusting and transacting something only information obtained on social media. Our society has begun to develop the habit of checking the seller’s official website.

Because it will be very easy to recognize who are good and bad sellers just by looking at their digital track record. Similarly, knowing whether a website is safe for transactions, simply by looking at the URL of the website.

All of this is one unit if we talk about the role of websites for business. But what about yourself?

If everyone in this world needs a home. Not just for shelter and sleep at night. But also the shipping address sent something. Then so must everyone have an address on the internet. A website whose functions and duties are the same as our home in the real world.

Website can be used for showcase for example, or make it a portfolio of products or services that we have. For example, you are a painter, well, the website is full of examples of work. Or the writer, the website created will display the results of the writing. And many more types of products and services that each person can vary.

Through a good website, there will be opportunities for collaboration with many parties. I have experienced it and feel grateful. Because of the small things that I put on the website, it has a big impact. Even once, I was contracted a year by a company after seeing what I did.

I always emphasize to anyone, if you want to build a portfolio on the internet, make it look professional. One way is by not building a free website. This is important for any business that is for sale. To show stability and well-being. No matter the work can be in the room or toilet though.

Creating a professional-looking website is not a difficult matter. All things can be learned. Even those who do not understand at all about coding. The technology was created not difficult, all to help facilitate human work.

So it would not hurt to have a website. Because it will make you look the most expert in their field. Even entrepreneurs will show credibility if they have a website. Even politicians today need websites to be elected.
