Here Are 6 Ways to Make Good Articles
Why Not many people realize that they can write articles well ?
In the era of social media like now, almost everyone can write. They write words to tell stories on their respective social media profile pages and express various things. Starting from the outpouring of heart, stories to the analysis and opinions that are so complex. Although at this time almost everyone can write, not everyone can produce good writing.
I was not that long ago involved in writing, more precisely journalistic, but I still find it challenging to write a good article. That is why then I continue to look for references that are good enough to be my guide to writing.
One of the references that I found is an article written by Hannah Frankman for The Mission, entitled ” Six Rules for Writing Good Articles. “
Hannah, a storyteller, reveals how he used this six-point guide every time he wrote an article. And these six rules are part of two essential things from an excellent article: the actual content/story and proper technique.
He also assures us that writing useful articles is relatively easy to create, and most people don’t realize it. But what’s difficult is how to use proper techniques in writing. This technique then becomes the differentiator between one story and another.
According to Hannah, the article “Bad” is an article that feels flat. Don’t have a taste, and don’t move someone to keep following the article until it’s over.
The cause is that there is no weighty story that can bring respect, trust, or even admiration to the author.
That is why writing an excellent article can have an impact on the reader, and that is worth doing because it has essential value.
I am not trying to increase or decrease the rules that have been written by Hannah. In this article, I translate it into Indonesian so that friends who don’t understand English have no difficulty learning.
We are all still learning; let’s learn together to create quality content and provide benefits.
Here are six ways to write useful articles:
Minimize the distance between the reader and the story from the first paragraph; not many people realize that the first paragraph in a report will influence the reader’s attitude to read an article.
Opening paragraphs that are too long will make people uninterested and feel exhausted in the beginning. They still have to read the next article to receive information in full.
Therefore, to write a good article, write an opening paragraph that is short and quite striking.
One or two sentences in the opening paragraph will be enough to make the reader interested in continuing reading. Prove briefly to readers that the article you wrote can provide value for them.
- Shorten a paragraph.
Simply put, the main rule in writing is always to shorten all the writing. The current condition of readers who mostly read via smartphones makes it difficult for someone to continue being able to follow long paragraphs. They will feel tired and finally not interested in keeping.
Shortening a paragraph is indeed a challenge. But in my opinion, if this is done successfully, there will be benefits that can be given to readers that they will still be able to continue listening to paragraph by paragraph without feeling exhausted.
The trick is to provide plenty of pause or space. Just cut a paragraph into only a few sentences.
Besides that, with the many pauses between paragraphs, the ideas conveyed will also get room to “breathe.” But don’t be trapped into writing sentences that are too short but can’t be understood. The point is how to write a paragraph that explains the purpose and purpose concisely and transparently.
- Make the article short but still sweet.
I think this rule is unique because Hannah again emphasizes about abbreviating sentences. But according to him, this point is essential because a good article only requires useful sentences.
Not a winged sentence and develops everywhere. Sharp, clear, and appropriate goals are important elements of good articles.
The sweet article itself means that the article has an impression and is still worth sharing with others.
- Give valuable content
According to Hannah, most articles today contain empty words. “People just write nonsense,” he said.
I think I agree with what Hannah said about articles that are dry, of no value, and are empty. Often we find an article that has no meaning at all because it focuses on a searching viewer or site traffic only.
These articles are usually flavored with bombastic titles that are only intended to eliminate the boredom of the readers without trying to provide new knowledge or new understanding. Articles like this are not only not useful for readers, but also spend energy and time.
I agree with the writer’s message: “Never write an article or content just because you want to write content. Write content for the sake of meaning and understanding. “
Tell your readers something. Imagine asking “why / why” about the article written and answer that question in the report.
The world needs more content that can provide teaching, explain meaning and meaning, and make people understand something.
- Tell a Story and More.
Everyone is happy with the story. Hannah called it one of the most basic human traits that are always interested in a convincing story.
The best way to draw the reader’s attention to an article is by telling and writing stories. Catch their attention with an event, setting, and a plot.
Stories are the most brilliant way to open an article. The story is also able to illustrate a core idea. Stories also don’t need to be excessive, but only need to be written expertly. Tell the reader how a tool that you have used, then tell a story about how we use it ourselves and what happened.
The short, simple, clear, and abrupt article it will feel so alive.
Avoid writing something that dries the story. In the internet world, which is noisy with content and writing, no one reads a crisp book.
2.Show it first, then tell it.
Start by showing what is we do, then explain what it means and why it is essential.
This rule is used for the entire structure of writing. Convey your ideas in this order: illustration, explanation, understanding.
Show the reader what kind of ideas you want to convey with illustrations or illustrations in the article. Explain what the purpose is like with detailed writing and then help the reader understand why the design or something you are conveying is impressive. Without this method, the article will feel dull and will have no value.
And the last rule not entered by Hannah is practice. Practice, training, and practice.
Practicing making work is an effort to perfect the job. Practice until you understand the shape and structure of a good article. So in the future, writing a good article or content will become a habit that occurs naturally.
Everyone has exciting things to tell. You have even more stories than you realize. But the world needs something that has meaning, convincing stories that will give birth to knowledge and help people understand.
